This Privacy Policy explains how Free .AB Converter, available at abconverter.live, handles information when you use the website, conversion tools, archive viewer, extraction features, guides, and contact channels. Android backup files can contain sensitive information, so the service is designed around data minimization and short lived processing.
This policy must reflect the production architecture actually deployed. If the implementation changes, this page should be updated before claims about local processing, server retention, analytics, advertising, or deletion are published.
1. File Processing
Where technically practical, Free .AB Converter is intended to process Android AB files locally in your browser. Local processing means the selected file is read by code running on your device and is not uploaded to Free .AB Converter's server for that operation.
The interface should clearly identify when an operation is local. Local processing may use browser memory, Web Workers, Streams APIs, or temporary browser storage needed to complete conversion or indexing.
Some operations, file sizes, browser limitations, or implementation dependencies may require server side processing. When server processing is used, the interface should disclose that before the operation begins.
2. Temporary Server Side Processing
When a file must be processed on a server, it should be stored only for the time needed to complete the requested operation and any short technical expiry period required to deliver the output.
Temporary input files, decrypted TAR files, extraction directories, and generated downloads should be isolated from other users and deleted promptly after the operation completes, fails, is cancelled, or expires.
Free .AB Converter does not intend to create a permanent user backup library or database of uploaded Android backup contents.
If infrastructure constraints require a defined temporary retention window, that exact window should be inserted here before launch.
3. Backup Passwords
If you provide a password for an encrypted Android AB file, the password is used only to attempt the requested decryption operation.
Passwords should not be stored in analytics, application logs, support logs, crash reports, cookies, localStorage, advertising systems, or a permanent database. When server side decryption is required, the password should be retained only in memory or the minimum transient process scope necessary to complete the operation.
Do not send backup passwords to support@abconverter.live unless a future documented secure support process explicitly requires it. Ordinary support should not request your password.
4. Decrypted and Extracted Data
When an encrypted AB file is converted to TAR or selected files are extracted, the output is generally plaintext unless a separate output encryption feature explicitly says otherwise.
If processing occurs locally, the plaintext output is created on your device. If server processing is required, temporary plaintext data may exist in the server processing environment for the duration of the operation.
The service should not retain decrypted archive contents permanently.
5. Browser Storage
Local processing may use temporary browser storage such as memory, IndexedDB, or other browser APIs when required for large or streaming operations. Any persistent browser store created specifically for file processing should be scoped to the operation and deleted when the operation is reset or expires, subject to browser behavior.
The website should not place raw backup contents or passwords into localStorage or ordinary cookies.
Your browser may also maintain normal cache data for website assets such as JavaScript, CSS, and fonts. Private uploaded or generated file responses should be configured to avoid inappropriate caching.
6. Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, the production service may receive basic technical request information such as IP address, request time, browser user agent, referring page, requested URL, response status, and limited security logs.
Logs should be configured to avoid recording backup passwords, file contents, decrypted archive entries, preview text, or other private data not needed for operation and security.
Uploaded filenames can contain personal information. The service should avoid recording full filenames in analytics or long term logs unless technically necessary and clearly disclosed.
7. Analytics
If analytics is added, this policy must name or describe the analytics provider and the types of data collected. Analytics should be configured to measure website usage without capturing backup contents, passwords, extracted file paths, package identifiers, or private preview data.
If no analytics is active at launch, do not include a misleading statement implying that analytics data is already being collected.
Where consent is legally required for nonessential analytics, the website should provide the appropriate consent controls.
8. Cookies
Essential cookies may be used if necessary for security, session management, consent preferences, or operation state. Nonessential cookies should be used only when they are actually required and disclosed.
If the production site does not need cookies for file conversion, the privacy policy should say so accurately rather than copying a generic cookie section.
Any future advertising or analytics cookie use should be reflected here and in any separate cookie consent interface required by applicable law.
9. Advertising
If advertising is added later, the service may load third party advertising technology. Because AB tools handle potentially sensitive files, advertising scripts must not receive file contents, passwords, archive previews, or internal processing state.
The identity of advertising providers, relevant cookies, and data use should be disclosed before advertising is enabled.
If the site launches without advertising, this section should remain clearly conditional.
10. Contact Messages
If you email support@abconverter.live, the service receives the information you choose to include in the message, such as your email address, message text, and attachments.
Do not attach Android backup files, passwords, or highly sensitive extracted data to an ordinary support email unless a secure process has been explicitly arranged.
Support messages may be retained as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain service records, prevent abuse, and satisfy legal obligations. A specific retention period should be added if one is adopted.
11. Security
Reasonable safeguards should include HTTPS, request isolation, strict archive path validation, file size limits, decompression limits, temporary directory isolation, restricted access to processing systems, dependency maintenance, and avoidance of unnecessary permanent storage.
No internet service can promise absolute security. Users with highly sensitive, forensic, regulated, or legally privileged backups should consider a trusted offline workflow.
Free .AB Converter should never claim a level of security that the deployed architecture has not been tested to provide.
12. Archive Safety
Uploaded archives are treated as untrusted input. The service should reject unsafe TAR paths, avoid executing archive contents, and apply limits designed to reduce decompression bombs and resource exhaustion.
These controls protect both users and infrastructure. They do not inspect or judge the legality of every file inside a backup.
13. Data Sharing
Free .AB Converter should not sell uploaded backup contents or passwords. Data may be processed by infrastructure providers strictly as needed to operate the website when server side processing, hosting, security, email, analytics, or other disclosed services are used.
Before launch, the final policy should identify material categories of service providers actually used.
Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law, legal process, or to protect the rights, security, and integrity of the service, subject to applicable requirements.
14. International Processing
Hosting and infrastructure providers may process technical data in countries different from your own. The production policy should reflect the locations and providers actually used.
Local browser processing can reduce the amount of backup content transferred across borders because the file stays on the user's device for supported operations.
15. Children
Free .AB Converter is a technical file utility and is not intentionally designed to collect personal information from children. If the production service becomes directed to children or knowingly collects information from them, the privacy framework must be reviewed and updated accordingly.
16. User Rights
Depending on your location, privacy laws may provide rights relating to personal information, such as access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability.
Because the service is intended not to maintain permanent user accounts or backup archives, Free .AB Converter may have limited information to identify a request. Contact support@abconverter.live with the nature of your request and enough non sensitive information to locate relevant records if any exist.
The service may need to verify the request before acting where required or permitted by law.
17. File Deletion
For local browser processing, the service's server does not receive the file for that operation. Local working data should be removed when the user resets the tool or when the temporary browser processing store expires, subject to browser controls.
For server processing, temporary files should be deleted after completion or expiry according to the implemented retention policy. Deletion refers to removal from active application storage. It should not be described as guaranteed physical erasure from every storage layer unless the infrastructure can actually support that claim.
18. Backups of the Website Infrastructure
Production infrastructure may maintain system backups or snapshots. Uploaded AB files and temporary processing directories should be designed to avoid entering long term infrastructure backups where possible.
If temporary files can be included in infrastructure snapshots, the retention and deletion language must be updated accordingly before launch.
19. Third Party Links
Guides may reference third party software, Android documentation, open source projects, or external resources. Free .AB Converter is not responsible for the privacy practices of those external websites.
Review their policies before sending them data or downloading software.
20. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when the website architecture, analytics, advertising, legal requirements, or service providers change. The effective date at the top should be updated when material changes are published.
Material changes affecting file processing or retention should be communicated clearly in the product interface where appropriate.
21. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, contact support@abconverter.live.
FAQs
Does local browser processing mean my AB file never reaches the server?
Yes for operations explicitly identified as local, provided the deployed implementation performs those operations entirely in the browser. Server based operations must be labeled separately.
Are backup passwords retained after conversion?
The intended policy is no permanent password retention. Passwords should exist only for the active decryption operation and should not enter analytics or logs.
What happens to temporary server files if processing fails?
The implementation should include failure cleanup and expiry based cleanup so abandoned inputs and outputs are removed even when an operation does not finish normally.
